Welsh Pembroke Corgis Links

About the Breed:

Long associated with royalty, especially the British monarchy, the Pembroke Welsh Corgi is widely recognized and a popular pet. Its neat size and affectionate nature alone recommends it as a great family pet. The long, powerful little body is set on short, well boned legs. The coat comes in red, sable, fawn, tan, and black, all with or without white. The Pembroke's tail is quite short or docked very close to the body. When excited it can be seen jiggling away.

Temperament:

Pembrokes adore children, and are very playful. They are rugged enough to with stand the rough play that children sometimes get involved in. They love to fetch, and play ball. They are from the herding group and have this instinctively in their background. they may have a tendency to nip at your heels when excited as they would in a real herding situation this should be discouraged. They are fun , affectionate, loyal, to those they become close to. Some can be wary of strangers although I have not seem this much.

Grooming and care:

The soft, medium-length water-resistant coat is easy to groom. Comb and brush, and bathe only when necessary. The coat is shed twice a year. They are naturally active dogs, they should always be encouraged to remain so. There are no special feeding requirements for this dog, but don't overfeed or they will become obese and lazy.
