Pomeranians -

About the Breed

The Pomeranian resembles the much larger sled pulling Spitz-type dog from which it is descended. It was bred down in size in the nineteenth century, when toys and mini became popular. Pomeranians are little walking powder puffs and come in a array of colors, with cheeky, fox like faces. Their tails are carried curled up over their backs.

Poms are easy to train. The happy little Pom makes a good watchdog, despite its tiny size. Remember that they don't consider themselves small. They will alert you to anything unusual. Poms have exuberant personalities and amazing energy and strength they stand among the more rugged of the toy breeds. They are playful and inquisitive, but just as happy to sit by your side as you read or listen to music.

Poms are a non-aggressive breed, but that does not mean they are shy. On the contrary Poms could be considered the welcome wagon of the canine world. They insist that there are no strangers and even give special attention to those who live an entire lifetime saying, "I don't like dogs!" In the company of a Pom, that attitude won't last long. I have seen this time and time again. The Pomeranian, is a happy, energetic, loving, courageous, little dog that will change your life forever.
